Festival Santa Teresa located in the charming town of Saint-Therese, thirty minutes North from Montreal, is a three-day music celebration that took place from May 18-20, 2018. Being my first time in Saint-Therese, I was not sure what to expect and what I discovered is a town perfectly set-up for a festival with a quaint European city feel.

The festival was structured that there were shows all across the downtown area of Saint-Therese, in various indoor and outdoor locations, including churches (unusual but it worked!). The beautiful part of the festival is that it also included some free shows, which attracted a wide crowd range including many locals. A part that I enjoyed was that you could have a bite and a drink at a local restaurant and enjoy the shows from their outdoor terrace. It created a unique experience with some similarities to the setting of the Montreal Jazz Festival.

One of the most memorable shows that took place in the main Saint-Therese church was Feist’s highly anticipated show – and she definitely did not disappoint. She performed a series of ballads that tied in perfectly with the lovely setting. It was memorable, to say the least, she knew how to work the crowd and made a gracious effort to speak to us in French throughout the show.

Other shows to highlight throughout the weekend included the amazing band Stars, Nick Murphy, Wolf Parade, Oh Wonder, Trippie Redd, Ski Mask The Slum God, and many more. A few unfortunate disappointments over the weekend were the cancellation of The Voidz, starring Julian Casablancas, due to weather conditions, as well as Lil Uzi, due to problems encountered at the Canadian Boarder.

All in all, have to say I would definitely be happy to return to Santa Teresa next year. Hugely recommended, a well-organized festival in a lively town, a great way to kick off the summer in the Quebec region.  For more information, visit their website here.
